I hope you're all safe and well.
Heads up that I'm considering migrating the email from Mailchimp. I've not decided 100%, but I'll let you all know if I formally move the newsletter to Substack or another platform.

Feel free to forward this message to anyone that you think might be interested in joining this community. I'm always thankful for the word of mouth. This is the link to sign up for the newsletter, andthis is the link to get event info and sign up.

If you want to help SFTech4Good by volunteering and sponsoring, please send a message to san-francisco@netsquared.org. I'm in planning mode for some events that start happening next month. When I roll those out, I'll ask for help.

SFTech4Good Events for September 2020

SFTech4Good Virtual Networking, Session 5
Tomorrow, September 17th at 6 pm

Please download the Upstream app on your mobile device to join this networking session.

In the next networking session, I'll kick things with a chat with Damian Madray. He is the founder and CEO of PRESENCE, which is a curation of experiential gatherings for meaningful connections and deeper conversations in the arts. Damian will talk about PRESENCE and its applications for social impact and social change.

That segment will take about 10 minutes. After that, I'll start the 1:1 networking portion of the event. You'll be matched in 1:1 conversations with other attendees, so make sure to complete your profile on Upstream. That way you can quickly share whatever contact info you like. This part will last for 30 minutes.

RSVP here by downloading the app and joining the SFTech4Good network on Upstream.

Note: You shouldn't be prompted for a code if you click from the link. Depending on your phone's operating system, clicking will take you to Apple's iOS App Store or Google's Play store to download and set up an account. Then it should automatically put you into the SFTech4Good group.

If it doesn't, please reach out to the Upstream team directly via email. They're quick, will help you sort it out, get you into the group, and RSVPed for the event. If you download the app manually, it will ask you for a code, so please don't do it that way.

I hope to see some of you there tomorrow night!

Discussion with the Strava Metro Team
September 30th

Screengrab of the Strava Metro's website

Strava Metro was created in 2014 with the mission of helping transportation planners better understand how people move through their communities. Originally a dense, custom-built data product; Metro has recently evolved into a streamlined web interface allowing users to more easily access insights about active transportation. Now serving more than 200 organizations across the globe, Strava data is helping improve active transportation for millions of people.

Join us to learn more about Strava Metro and how it's helping to improve transportation and more with Haynes Bunn, Erik Sunde, and Brian Rogers. The conversation will focus in on a discussion about anti-racism, race, and equity in active transportation, specifically in the Metro data.

Get more info here on Meetup, and you have to register here on Zoom and be logged into a Zoom account to access the call. I'm doing this to make sure we have a secure conversation because we'll have breakout rooms during the event.
